NAIDOC WEEK - 50 Years of Deadly - a week of celebration and reflection
14 July 2026
During NAIDOC Week, we honoured and celebrated 50 deadly years of wisdom, courage and hope carried by Elders past and present. We gave thanks for the milestones won through struggle, strength and faith - land rights, better pathways to health equity, and growing school and university opportunities for our young people, and gave thanks to Creator God, the beginning and the end of all our blessings. We acknowledge where we as a society have fallen short. During this time of honest reflection, discernment and action for all Australians to play their part in truth-telling, healing and shared flourishing, a NAIDOC Week service was held at Albert Street Church, graciously led by our leaders and young adults of the Uniting Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress (UAICC) team.
We look toward the next 50 years of NAIDOC, and pray for our young adults and youth to grow strong in God’s love, cultural richness, belonging and hope. May they know the healing and strength of who they are, and may Creator God guide us all in faith, justice and love.
