Baptism Record Request

Baptism is one of two sacraments practised by the Uniting Church (the other being Holy Communion). In Baptism, we celebrate new life through Jesus as we are united with Christ, and the people of God. Baptism is offered to those who confess the Christian faith, and those who are presented for baptism by their parents or guardians. Uniting Church Baptismal records are held by the congregation in which the baptism takes place. The congregation, if known and still operating, may be able to provide a copy of the requested Baptism record, and your first enquiry is best directed there. Contact details for Uniting Church congregations in Queensland are below.

Application to complete a Baptism Record Search

If you are unable to contact the congregation where the baptism took place, we may in some instances be able to assist you in locating records for baptisms that took place in Queensland only. We may refer your enquiry to the State Library (who hold some historic records including those from the Methodist, Congregational and Presbyterian Churches before they formed the Uniting Church in 1977), enquire directly with existing congregations, or search some records of former congregations on your behalf. To have us begin a Baptism Record Search, please complete the form below, supplying as much information as possible to aid in the search for the record.  There are many instances where records are not available and we may be unsuccessful in attempting to complete a record search for you.
