The Uniting Church in Australia Queensland Synod Moderator’s Community Service Medal is awarded for outstanding contribution to the community, and Margaret Whitchurch is someone who has shown up, again and again, for people in need with compassion, wisdom, and a steadfast commitment spanning more than 31 years.

Through her long-standing service with Lifeline, Margaret has supported people through their darkest moments as a Crisis Supporter on the 13 11 14 line, ensuring that no one has to walk alone.  Alongside this vital work, she has mentored new Crisis Supporters, generously sharing her experience and encouraging others to serve with confidence and care.

Margaret is also a respected leader in Community Recovery, representing Lifeline during times of disaster and advocating for fairness, justice, and support for those affected.  Her efforts have strengthened community connections and extended Lifeline’s reach through education, events, and partnerships across the region.

Respected, tireless, and deeply compassionate, Margaret shows no signs of slowing down, and her ongoing dedication continues to make a profound difference in individual lives and in the wider community.

It is with deep gratitude and admiration that we recognise Margaret Whitchurch as a most deserving recipient of the Moderator’s Community Service Medal.
