Your legacy – your gift – touching lives and communities to make us stronger and better

By leaving a gift in your will to the Uniting Church in Australia Queensland you will touch many generations to come, enabling the missional work of the Church in communities all over Queensland.

All gifts – no matter how great or small – are greatly valued and will significantly help our future planning.

Leaving a gift in your will is easy

All your solicitor needs is ABN 25 548 385 225 and our registered name is The Uniting Church in Australia Property Trust (Q.)  Even a gift of 1% of your estate to UCAQ would make a difference to the communities we serve, and you will still ensure your loved ones are cared for.

Step 1 – Contact our team

We are always here to discuss how your gift can make a difference to the lives of fellow Queenslanders and we can provide all the information you need to make sure your intentions are fulfilled.

We thank you for thinking of us.

If you would like more information, please call Vanessa Griffiths Fundraising Support Manager on 0438 277 011 email: bequests@ucaqld.com.au

Step 2: Discuss with your legal advisor

Consult your legal advisor to ensure the option you have chosen best reflects your intentions. We recommend you seek the qualified advice of an independent solicitor or legal advisor before making or revising your will.

Are you a solicitor or legal advisor? Refer to our will wording for more information.

Step 3: Tell your family and friends

We are grateful for any Gift you are able to leave us once you have taken care of your family and friends first. It’s important to discuss your Gift with your loved ones to ensure they understand and support your reasons for choosing to help The Uniting Church Queensland in such a powerful way.

Types of gifts you can leave

There are many ways to leave gifts in your will and we are extremely grateful for any contribution you are able to make, great or small.

  • You can give a part of your estate or the residue of your estate.
If the value of your estate grows, or is eroded by inflation or other circumstances, your family and any other beneficiaries will not be disadvantaged.
  • You can give a specific amount of money.
This does not allow for a change in your circumstances or for inflation, which will tend to erode the value of a specific amount.
  • You can give a particular item or items
These can include shares, works of art, property, jewellery or other items of value.

Suggested wording for your will

To ensure your intentions are correctly followed, it is important to word your will or codicil correctly. The suggested wording for your Gift is set out below.

If you decide to support the Property Trust through a bequest, the following are suggested forms of wording for inclusion in a will. We also recommend that you seek independent legal advice before relying on these suggested forms of words with respect to your intentions.

Please note:  The Property Trust is not able to provide legal advice and the wording below is a suggestion only, and your member will need to discuss and finalise their intentions based on the advice of their solicitor. The wording in red relates to this particular gift and the wording in black is our general suggested wording for any bequest to a Uniting Church in Queensland.
