ACEL QLD Excellence in Educational Leadership Award – Nicole Gregory

The Lakes College community is delighted to share that Mrs Nicole Gregory, Principal of The Lakes College (a Uniting Church School in North Lakes), has been honoured with the ACEL QLD Excellence in Educational Leadership Award.

This prestigious recognition celebrates outstanding educational leadership through initiatives that enhance student learning and achievement, while also shaping the broader direction of education across Queensland.

Since her appointment in 2021, Nicole has led The Lakes College through a season of remarkable growth and transformation. Under her leadership, enrolments have expanded from under 1,000 to more than 1,160 students, and the College has seen the development of major new facilities including a Multi-Purpose Sports Hall, Swimming Pool, Learn to Swim Facility, Performing Arts Precinct and vibrant playgrounds.

More importantly, Nicole has placed authentic care, faith formation, and service at the heart of her leadership. She has reimagined pastoral care structures, created opportunities for service learning and cultural immersion, and equipped young people with the resilience, optimism, and hope needed to navigate their future.

Reflecting on the award, Nicole shared:

“This award honours those who have influenced my leadership journey over the past 35 years and is a recognition I share with the extraordinary colleagues I work alongside each day as we seek to be an educational Light in the Heart of Brisbane’s North. It is truly a privilege to serve in such a noble profession.”

Nicole’s leadership with the Uniting Church on matters of corporate governance and faith formation continues to strengthen the College’s identity as a place where faith, courage and community intersect to shape the lives of young people.
