Resources for Engaging Young People and Intergenerational Discipleship & Mission – June/July Update
16 June 2025

To help Enable, Equip and Encourage a growing and flourishing church across Queensland, we’ll regularly share links to resources for education, worship, discipleship, and mission both with Young People, and Intergenerationally.
The resources will be a selection of practical materials, interesting articles, books and podcasts, that might be worth considering and exploring.
If you would like to connect with the Mission Accompanying Team to chat about the resources, or how we might encourage you, please reach out to Jessica.pinkerton@ucaqld.com.au

Max 7 - New program builder https://www.max7.org/en/builder/program to help you create ministry programs that meet your needs.
Tell the program builder what you need; group ages, number of participants, Bible passages, theme, and even the requirements of your meeting space, and let Max7 help you build a lesson to your own specifications.
Each time you send a request to the Builder; you can refine the results by giving feedback and checking to be sure that the lesson guide is handling the Bible and engaging your audience the way you would like.
The Max7 program builder is in Beta Testing phase, so that you can try it out, send in feedback, and benefit right now from this new development.

A Sunday School Curriculum for Uniting Churches https://www.nswact.uca.org.au/resources/big-lessons-and-bigger-questions/
Big Lessons and Bigger Questions is a ten-week curriculum designed to fit within an Aussie school term and introduces kids to ten Old Testament characters and their stories from The Book of Belonging, a children’s bible by Mariko Clarke and Rachel Eleanor. Big Lessons and Bigger Questions guides kids through the big questions we’re all asking about God, including the characters in our bible. Meet Abraham and ask, “Can I trust God?” Hear Esther's story and wonder, “Why can’t I see God?” Each week, kids read a bible story from The Book of Belonging, wonder together, participate in an engaging activity and take home their own character card of that week's character, beautifully illustrated by Andrea Barnes. There is also an accompanying background each week for leaders, and Beyond Sunday School resources for families to continue the conversation.

Everyday Disciple Podcast - Discipleship Is Spiritually Re-Parenting People https://everydaydisciple.com/episodes/discipleship-is-spiritually-re-parenting-people/
So many people were never taught the basic skills needed for everyday life—let alone how to see it all through the lens of the gospel. Discipleship isn’t just a transfer of biblical knowledge or theology; it’s about helping people actually live as part of God’s family. And in many ways, it’s like reparenting others in light of what our Father now says is true about them.
A short interview with Graham Stanton
Recently, Graham was interviewed for a Pastors ministry website about what young people have shared through the Your Story research. It runs for half an hour, and Graham shares very eloquently about what the main themes are, and how the church might respond to what young people have shared.

Converge Conversation - ‘Leading up for change’ Thursday June 26, 12:30-1:30pm (AEST)
Many of us aren't the big bosses of our organisations or denominations. We're often positioned somewhere in the middle of the organisational chart. So, how can we provide influence within our organisations toward the kind of change that the voices of young people tell us they'd like to see?

This year, we will focus on LISTENING - exploring how we are:
Listening to Young People
What are young people telling us about their experiences of children and families ministry that will help us shape our ministries wisely?
We will crack open recent research capturing the faith of Australian Youth in their own words with guidance from Naomi Swindon, ministry specialist with young people and member of the Converge Oceania core team.
Listening to Diversity
What do the diverse voices of our communities tell us about their needs, longings, experiences and faith, growing up and being family in 2025?
Experts and experienced colleagues will host focused sessions and scaffolded conversations to share wisdom and strategies as we unpack the gift and uncertainty of ministry with the full spectrum of human diversity.
Listening to God
What is God saying to us together as participants in the gospel?
Explore scripture through the lens of child-theology and intergenerational practices with ready hearts and minds to listen afresh and engage deeply with spirit-nourishing and faith-strengthening texts.
