A landmark in the Brisbane CBD, Albert Street Uniting Church has been building a diverse community from within their historic walls.

For 10 years they have hosted English Corner, an ecumenical English conversation class on Tuesday afternoons from 4-5.30pm with fully qualified TESOL trained teachers. Recent weeks have seen their numbers increase to around 70 regular participants.

To partner with that successful program, Albert Street Uniting have introduced a "Dinner Church" to follow from 6-7PM where participants and leaders share a meal and a story about Jesus, followed by a discussion. The majority of participants come from English Corner - people from overseas, some with faith and some with no faith.

On Thursday lunchtimes the Church becomes a space for reflection with a short 30 minute meditative service for city workers and tourists. This is beginning to build its own audience.

Starting Sunday 31 August, Albert Street Uniting will be starting a 4pm service called "Praying through the Psalms" which will include both a meditative and creative space.

Amy Yang (UCA Minister of the Word candidate) has come on board and is starting a Mandarin speaking Bible class with plans for an 11am English/Mandarin service from early November.

If you are in the Brisbane area, or visiting soon, we encourage you to engage with any of these exciting missional opportunities.
