An Act of Service: Educating Our Community on the Gift of Estate Planning
4 August 2025

At the heart of our organisation lies a deep-seated commitment to service. It is woven into the fiber of who we are, helping to guide our decisions and inspiring our actions.
We believe that true service extends beyond our immediate reach, flowing into the community to positively impact the lives of those we live with and around. Educating both our community within the Uniting Church and the broader communities we live in about the purpose of Estate Planning is a direct and powerful expression of our core value of service. This work in the community helps to build a more connected society, one where families are supported through life's most challenging moments.
Our role in this is to educate with compassion and care. We want to help our communities understand that a will is a simple yet profound act of service to their loved ones and their community. It's one of the most meaningful gifts we can give—a final quiet act of love that continues to serve long after we're gone.
Their will becomes a bridge between what they accomplished in their lives for their loved ones and what they want to serve their loved ones into the future. It transforms uncertainty into clarity, confusion into comfort, and overwhelming grief into a clear path forward marked by their intentions and care.
We believe that by providing clear information and heartfelt guidance, underpinned by our value of service, we can demystify the process and highlight the incredible impact a planned estate can have for loved ones in their time of deep grief. When families are struggling with loss, the last thing they need is the added burden of guessing what their loved one would have wanted.
A thoughtfully prepared will speaks when we can no longer speak. It offers guidance when we can no longer guide. It provides the peace of mind that comes from knowing our final wishes will be honored and our loved ones will be cared for according to our heart's intention
By actively promoting estate planning, we are living our commitment to the power of shared values and our belief in service for our entire community. Our educational efforts are our way of saying "You matter, your family matters, and we want to help you care for them when they will need you the most."
Estate planning conversations are rooted in respect and embodied in our value of service. They empower our communities to serve their families in the most profound way possible, by ensuring their love continues to provide comfort and direction even when they can no longer be physically present.
This is service that transcends time, care that continues beyond our earthly presence, and love expressed in its most practical and enduring form.
