The Lakes College Principal Recognised Among Queensland's Most Influential Education Leaders
29 June 2026
The Lakes College community is celebrating the recognition of Principal Nicole Gregory, who has been named among Queensland's most influential education leaders in The Courier-Mail's recently published list, "Revealed: The 73 People Controlling the Future of Queensland Education."
The list acknowledges individuals who are helping shape the future of education across the state through their leadership, innovation, vision and influence. Those selected were recognised not only for their achievements and positions but also for their ability to drive positive change and contribute meaningfully to Queensland's educational landscape.
Nicole's inclusion follows a period of significant growth and transformation at The Lakes College, a Uniting Church school located in North Brisbane. Since commencing as Principal in 2021, she has guided the College through a remarkable chapter of development, overseeing enrolment growth to more than 1,160 students while championing major capital projects, including the Aquatic Precinct and Performing Arts Precinct. Looking ahead, Nicole continues to shape the future of learning at the College, with a new Science Precinct scheduled to open in 2027.
Earlier this year, Nicole was also honoured with the ACEL Queensland Excellence in Educational Leadership Award, recognising her commitment to educational innovation, strategic vision and student-centred leadership.
Despite these achievements, Nicole is quick to recognise the collective effort behind the College's success. "These accolades belong to the team and what a team it is. We are in this mission together."
As a Uniting Church school, The Lakes College seeks to nurture young people through an education grounded in faith, hope, love, courage, community and justice. Under Nicole's leadership, the College has remained committed to ensuring that growth and innovation are balanced with authentic care, student wellbeing and meaningful faith formation.
Her leadership reflects a deep commitment to creating a learning environment where every student is known, valued and supported to flourish academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually.
This recognition is a testament not only to Nicole's leadership but also to the dedication of the entire Lakes College community; staff, students, parents, carers and supporters, who work together each day to provide exceptional opportunities for young people to learn, grow and contribute positively to the world around them.
As Queensland's education sector continues to evolve, Nicole's recognition serves as a reminder of the important role faith-based education plays in shaping future generations and building communities of hope.
Congratulations to Nicole on this well-deserved recognition and thank you for your ongoing commitment to educational excellence and the mission of Uniting Church education.
