AXIOS: UCQLD Young Adults

What an exciting time to be a part of the Uniting Church! Recently there has been a resurgence in our Youth and Young Adult communities in and around our churches, to have bigger events with other congregations because our young people are yearning for connection through Christ. AXIOS is a group that creates events that bring our young people together (Axios (ἄξιος) meaning worthy, deserving and/or suitable). Our first event was a worship night last November held at Toowong Uniting Church where over 70 attendees and over 10 congregations came together to worship Jesus. It was so encouraging to see so many young people a part of our church all in one place!

Over last weekend (30th January to 1st February, 2026) we held our second event, a young adult weekend with the theme, Belonging, at Samford Valley Community Church. A beautiful location with stunning weather, impactful speakers (Ralph Mayhew and Sam McDonald) and one-of-a-kind worship, the weekend was full of the joy, laughter, and excitement of the Holy Spirit. At our busiest time, we had over 50 attendees! There is a real sense of renewal and growth in the young adult community, and it is so exciting to see where it is going!

Our plans for this year are to have an event every 6 weeks, with a mix of social/casual events and worship/reflective events. We will be hosting a picnic in the park on the 14th March at Roma Street Park Lands (more details will be up on our Instagram @axiosqld). We hope to have another worship night as well as potentially another camp! So, keep your eyes peeled!
