A discussion panel on ways to care for Country has called the Uniting Church to action. Hosted on World Environment Day (June 5, 2024) by the Queensland Synod, UnitingCare Queensland, and Wesley Mission Queensland, four speakers explored the First Nations' understanding of caring for Country, custodianship, and the unique opportunities that lie before us.

Our panellists:

  • Madonna Thomson: Jagera People member, sharing traditional knowledge.
  • Justine Dillon: Kombumerri & Quandamooka woman, advocate for culture & environment.
  • James Stanley: Kabi Kabi & Wakka Wakka man and UnitingCare Pinangba team member, passing on cultural understanding.
  • Simone Elias: Manager of Environmental Sustainability at UnitingCare QLD, driving impactful initiatives.
  • Panel facilitator: Rev Bruce Moore, Moderator Uniting Church in Queensland
