UnitingCare is seeking a full-time Chaplain to join our Mission Group in our Brisbane City Central Office. The primary place of this position is providing pastoral care to staff in UnitingCare’s Brisbane City Central Office and surrounding regional office locations, the development of new services in holistic care, and the expansion of key volunteer programs connecting congregations/communities with UnitingCare services.  The chaplain will also be available to provide pastoral care and emergency or post-critical incident support amongst staff from Family & Disability Services in other regional locations.

This is a placement for the exercise of ministry within the Uniting Church in Australia, Queensland. Within the ministry of the whole Church, Jesus Christ calls men and women to proclamation of the gospel in word and deed through a call to ministry. This calling is exercised in a variety of ways including the proclamation of the Word of God in word and deed; the participation in the mission of God; the building up of the people of God in love and care; and the service of Christ in the world.

The Church understands the healing of people in body, mind, and spirit to be the work of God in the world. The Church’s mission is to participate in and witness to this mission of God, and to do so as ethically and creatively as possible. We are committed to the health and wholeness of people and to the good of the community.

The purpose of UnitingCare Queensland (UCQ) arises out of the stated purpose of Jesus Christ “to have life in all its fullness” (John 10:10).  Its role is to be an agent of God’s healing power to the whole person, and not just for an individual ailment or disability, thereby enabling each individual to play his or her important role in God’s plan for the human family.
