UnitingCare Queensland is seeking a Ministry Agent for a new dual role placement in Mackay, working within Blue Care Residential & Community Care and in partnership with Central Queensland Presbytery. This combined placement will be full-time.
One facet will be within Blue Care to deliver spiritual & pastoral care in Residential Aged Care Facilities and the community, caring for the emotional, spiritual and religious needs of staff, clients, residents and their families. This 0.5FTE role will also deliver our exciting new Care & Wellbeing service for community home care clients.
For the second facet, UnitingCare Queensland, in partnership with Central Queensland Presbytery, is seeking a Community Mission Officer for Mackay to build pastoral relationships of support and care with staff and volunteers of UnitingCare Queensland; to support and encourage the community mission activities of congregations in the region; and to look for opportunities for mission innovation – drawing together people, skills and resources of UnitingCare and local Uniting Church congregations.
This is a placement for the exercise of ministry within the Uniting Church in Australia, Queensland. Within the ministry of the whole Church, Jesus Christ calls men and women to proclamation of the gospel in word and deed through a call to ministry. This calling is exercised in various ways, including the proclamation of the Word of God in word and deed, the participation in the mission of God; the building up of the people of God in love and care; and the service of Christ in the world.
The Church understands the healing of people in body, mind and spirit to be the work of God in the world. The Church’s mission is to participate in and witness God’s mission and do so as ethically and creatively as possible. We are committed to the health and wholeness of people and the good of the community.
Blue Care is one of Australia’s leading residential and community care and retirement living providers. Supporting people to remain as independent as possible is our passion. Our network of 260 centres across Queensland supports the care choices of older people, people with disability and others in need. We are a not-for-profit organisation and part of UnitingCare Queensland, the health and community service provider of the Uniting Church in Australia, Queensland.
Through its Connect100 initiative, UnitingCare Queensland provides support and oversight to this position and intends to explore close connections between UnitingCare Queensland and the congregations of the Mackay region.
This linked placement aims to provide and ensure chaplaincy services are ministries of compassion – caring for the emotional, spiritual and religious needs of staff, patients and their families. It also cultivates intentional connections between UnitingCare staff and volunteers, community and congregations for missional opportunity and innovation.
