UntingCare is seeking a .6 FTE Chaplain for The Wesley Hospital to deliver spiritual & pastoral care, caring for the emotional, spiritual and religious needs of staff, patients, and their families.
This is a placement for the exercise of ministry within the Uniting Church in Australia, Queensland. Within the ministry of the whole Church, Jesus Christ calls men and women to proclaim the gospel in word and deed through a call to ministry. This calling is exercised in a variety of ways, including the proclamation of the Word of God in word and deed; the participation in the mission of God; the building up of the people of God in love and care; and the service of Christ in the world.
The Church understands the healing of people in body, mind and spirit to be the work of God in the world. The Church’s mission is to participate in and witness to this mission of God and to do so as ethically and creatively as possible. We are committed to the health and wholeness of people and to the good of the community.
UnitingCare is one of the largest not-for-profit, private hospital groups in Queensland and provides professional and compassionate care to more than 140, 000 patients each year through its private hospitals – The Wesley and St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospitals in Brisbane, The Buderim Private Hospital on the Sunshine Coast and St Stephen’s Hospital in Hervey Bay – the first fully integrated, digital hospital in Australia. As one of Australia’s iconic and largest private, not-for-profit hospitals, we’re proud of the valued role we play in the Queensland community. As part of UnitingCare, our focus is on treating and caring for people with compassion across their life’s journey. This means consideration of the whole person, not just their physical health. We’re here to provide individuals, families and communities with the best possible health and life outcomes, because in our eyes everyone deserves to live life in all its fullness.
