The Uniting Church in Australia is committed to providing safe places where people are cared for, nurtured and sustained.

When are workers covered under the Workers’ Compensation policy organised by Synod office payroll?

Workers whose pay is processed through Queensland Synod office payroll are declared and covered under the Workers’ Compensation policy with WorkCover Queensland which is organised through the Queensland Synod office. The stipends for all ministerial placements are processed through Queensland Synod office payroll, and as such all ministers are covered under the Workers’ Compensation policy with WorkCover Queensland which is organised through the Queensland Synod office.

When does a congregation or other entity of the Queensland Synod need to hold their own Workers’ Compensation policy?

Congregations and entities of the Queensland Synod are required to organise their own Workers’ Compensation policy with WorkCover Queensland for all workers whose pay is not processed through Queensland Synod office payroll, but rather is processed directly by the congregation or other entity of the Queensland Synod.
