Stuart joins the Synod fresh from a year of portfolio working variously as CFO of a tech start up, mergers and acquisitions advisor for ASX listed companies in the healthcare sector as well as board advisor to companies as varied as green energy, NDIS service provider and most recently AEIOU Foundation (childcare) where he was interim CFO. Prior to this year, Stuart came to Australia in 2010 with his family, working in Perth with St John of God Healthcare before moving to Queensland in 2013 where he variously served as CFO with Mercy Community (aged care, communities NFP) as well as private equity-backed businesses such as Guvera (music streaming), Indigo Group (satellite comms) and Edge Early Learning. Stuart’s earlier career included senior finance and strategic consulting roles in the UK with Virgin Group, Vodafone, Oracle, Dept of Defence and Hutchison Whampoa (Three). Stuart is a Chartered Accountant and is also a member of the Institute of Taxation. His consulting experience reflects a strong interest in organisational and systems transformation in relation to which he holds PRINCE 2, Six Sigma qualifications and Change Management certifications. During his career, he has been a part of nine new business launches – three of which went through rapid growth all the way to flotation – and constantly references the learnings he gained in each process.
In his spare time, Stuart is a youth soccer coach with his local Samford Rangers; he ‘enjoys’/suffers his favourite soccer teams perennially unsuccessful efforts to return to the EPL; and tries to get to the gym whenever work and family life allows.
Please join me in welcoming Stuart to the team.
