This mission area will facilitate learning and vocational pathways for financially disadvantaged Indigenous students (Years 10-12) in Uniting Church schools.

How will the money be used?

  • fees for study/training
  • assisting students with employment-related expenses such as trade equipment and travel
  • providing study resources.

The Uniting Church has direct responsibility for six independent schools in Queensland including Calvary Christian College (Carbrook and Springwood), Scots PGC (Warwick), The Lakes College (North Lakes), Moreton Bay College and Moreton Bay Boys’ College (Manly West) and Shalom Christian College (Townsville).

There are a total of 317 Indigenous students in this group of schools (August 2014 Census). These Indigenous students come from a wide catchment including Western Australia, Victoria, Northern Territory, remote Queensland and across the Torres Strait.
